Learn how Amazon Herb Company supports Indigenous communities at the village level.
Amazon Herb Company’s mission is to help the world recognize the healing values of the living Rainforest.
Amazon Herb Company is committed to:
- Providing access to the healing potential of the Amazon Rainforest
- Supporting a sustainable future for the Rainforest and its inhabitants
- Empowering like-minded entrepreneurs in sharing this vision
Since 1990, Amazon Herb Company has worked directly with Indigenous Rainforest communities in Peru. Each year, a percentage of all company profits goes toward providing scholarships, helping obtain land titles and deeds, and securing the future of the Peruvian Rainforest.
While many companies in today’s world are content to care just enough to earn a “Fair Trade” certification, such certification is not a common practice for our Indigenous partner communities who wild-harvest our herbs in the remote villages of the Peruvian Rainforest.
Instead, Amazon Herb Company goes to great lengths to empower and enrich these native communities on a village level who, in turn, share with us their wisdom and centuries-old understanding of Rainforest herbs and how they work in the human body.
Some of Amazon Herb Company’s contributions, projects and support for these native communities include assistance in granting land rights, communications equipment, in the form of solar powered radio cells, water filtration systems, boats, motors and other equipment, irrigation, sponsoring Indigenous radio programming, medical supplies, herbs and homeopathic products. Amazon Herb Company also supports the trade of handicrafts and artifacts made in the communities as well as the commercialization of their natural products.

Amazon Herb Company donated radios and solar cells to enable contact between native communities.

Solar powered radios have become instrumental in maintaining communication between villages.

Amazon Herb Company helped finance a two-story, sixty-foot launch to facilitate the commute along the river.
But practical support is only the beginning. Amazon Herb Company sponsored the founding of the Rio Pisqui Federation—a group of 13 Amazonian villages, empowered to protect and preserve their land, traditions and way of life. And when the villagers of Porvenir sought to claim the land that was rightfully theirs, Amazon Herb Company provided years of legal representation to help them fight for what was rightly theirs. And, through our partnership with the Amazon Center for Environmental Education & Research (ACEER) we help bring teachers and educational programs to children in Rainforest villages.
